I am a blues/folk/alt-country musician and Spanish and English teacher in a small, diverse urban high school in Salt Lake City, UT.  I am passionate about music, literature, art and ideas.  I am pretty well-read and try to be intellectual sometimes, but my high school students keep me from being pretentious.

I hate politics, but follow them incessantly.  I guess I love to hate them. I lean pretty far to the left, but try to be as undogmic..

I used to be Mormon.  Now I'm am a secular-humanist.  God?   I don't like religious fundamentalism, but the fundies as people are usually OK one on one.  Gospel music is good for the soul, especially if you don't believe in God. 

Buddha nature rattles around in there somewhere, but gets lost most days.

I like to go to church, the 1st SLC Unitarian Universalist Church.  The minister is really funny, and the people are pretty cool. 

I recently separated from my wife, and worry about the hurt that our separation has caused my two amazing daughters.  I also worry about the hurt that we caused them by staying together.

All options are on the table.

Beer is good, so is wine.  Tequila leaves me sick and hung over.  I can drink gin until I almost pass out, and wake up fine.  I'm not an alchoholic.  I value my brain cells, but not enough to not indulge. 

Coffee keeps me awake when I'm tired.  I'm not a coffee snob, but I have definite standards. 

I'm going through a major transition, and happy to meet new friends.  I love people, and am a gentle soul with a wicked, wicked sense of humor.

I have some electric guitars, and sometimes I like to play them very LOUD!  But I prefer to play my acoustic guitars with my harmonica around my neck.
